Meet Astro ST’s Mars Rover

Engineered for the unknown. Built by students. Ready to compete.

C.O.M.E.T.

C.O.M.E.T. is the second-generation rover created by our team for the European Rover Challenge. Designed for the remote operation in challenging, simulated Martian environments, the rover features a robotic arm, live video feed and modular control systems.

The software architecture is based on ROS 2 and Python, with a custom web interface built with the use of roslibjs and Next.js. Such a setup allows a real-time control and telemetry monitoring directly through a browser from anywhere in the world.

Our rover is built with flexibility in mind — both in hardware and software — making it easy to expand and adapt for various tasks and future competitions.

Our team

Meet the team behind our Mars rover project — a multidisciplinary group of students passionate about robotics, software, and engineering. Together, we design, build, and test systems that push the boundaries of student-driven space technology.

Mateusz Raźny

Founder & Electrical Engineer

I love combining electronics with mechanics; it allows me to create interesting solutions I'm proud of. My many years of experience in 3D design and electronics have directly led to countless projects and the successful deployment of innovative rover systems. I don’t have much free time in my schedule, but whenever it appears, I devote it to relaxation.

Krzysztof Periy

Founder & Electrical Engineer

A passionate technologist, mainly interested in electronics, and the leader of our team. I enjoy taking on challenges that seem impossible at first glance, and I like to think outside the box in my work. Beyond engineering, I'm interested in film and graphic design. I also enjoy reading books and I try to stay active in my free time.

Kamil Machowski

Electrical Engineer

I’m a technophile with a solid foundation in both hardware design and software development. I take great pleasure in the art of crafting projects from scratch, striving for excellence in every outcome. I enjoy engaging in various activities and I have passion for learning new things.

Marcin Fortuna

Team leader

I love building things with Python and diving into machine learning. I enjoy leading teams, solving tough problems together, and pushing projects forward. Outside of work, I’m fascinated by Lovecraftian horror and I love building with LEGO.

Konrad Kaczówka

Software Engineer

I’m a developer on a software team who enjoys working with Java. In my free time, I like experimenting with Python, machine learning, and AI. Outside of coding, I stay active by going to the gym and I enjoy reading.

Wojciech Blicharz

Software Engineer

I’m a Java and embedded developer with a passion for computer hardware. I integrate microcontrollers into our systems, making sure they communicate correctly with other components. Besides coding, I enjoy playing esports titles and exploring Italian cuisine.

Mateusz Fudala

Software Engineer

I’m a software developer responsible for creating solutions to problems thrown at the developer team by the electronics team — or solving issues created by myself. Besides solving code-related stuff, I follow the chess scene and (very slowly) solve the Rubik’s cube in my free time.

Jakub Klimek

Software Engineer

Full-stack developer with over 5 years of experience. I work with PHP, Next.js, GraphQL, and machine learning. In Astro ST, I develop web projects, robotics solutions (ROS), and microcontroller integrations. Outside of tech, I’m into calisthenics and automotive.

Jagoda Osicka

Software Engineer

I'm a programmer with a strong passion for solving algorithmic problems, especially when I get to implement my ideas using my favorite language, C++. Beyond programming, I really enjoy drawing and creating digital graphics — it’s a creative outlet that balances my technical side. Combining both logic and artistry is something that inspires me every day.

Kacper Fijałkowski

Electrical Engineer

My passions lie in electronics, military aeronautics, and mathematics. I particularly enjoy working within the MATLAB environment. In my spare time, I focus on developing personal projects. Outside of that, I am also interested in alpine skiing and football.

Jakub Pajor

Software Engineer

I've been programming in C/C++ and Java since I was a child. I've spent many years learning OpenGL, Win32, and Java libraries. Optimizing code and the necessary computing power is always a priority for me. My hobbies include car tuning and off-roading.

Dawid Brach

I’m interested in embedded programming and artificial intelligence. I enjoy experimenting with new technologies and creating interesting projects that help me develop my skills and explore new solutions. Outside of programming, I stay active - usually by cycling or going to the gym.

Karol Gacoń

I am an embedded developer passionate about technologies used in the automotive industry, constantly expanding my knowledge through hands-on exploration of modern embedded systems. I love learning new things, and in my free time I enjoy diving into books and strategic board games.
